Greta Thunberg: Emotet’s Person of the Year

A global malicious email campaign is using climate-change activist Greta Thunberg as a lure. The emails contain an attached Microsoft Word document with Emotet malware installed. Researchers have seen emails sent in English aimed at email addresses in Australia, Austria, Canada, European Union, Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates and the U.K. Cybercriminals often latch on to the current zeitgeist, including people s holiday-season zeal for charitable giving and hot movie premieres.
