Zoom Beefs Up End-to-End Encryption to Thwart ‘Zoombombers’

Video-conferencing platform Zoom has acquired Keybase to boost security and privacy. A full cryptographic draft architecture will be available on May 22. The move will help prevent the kinds of oombombing and other attacks that have plagued the platform, as well as address privacy concerns about the platform sharing data with other companies. The acquisition is the latest move by Zoom by the company to face its security issues. Opting in means that calling in by phone for the audio portion of the call, and cloud-based recording of Zoom sessions, will both be disabled.
