Wiper Malware Called “Coronavirus” Spreads Among Windows Victims

A new Windows malware has emerged that makes disks unusable by overwriting the master boot record (MBR) The malware takes its cue from the COVID-19 pandemic, calling itself simply Coronavirus The malware is also a destructive trojan though not as destructive as other wipers. Like its namesake, there s no obvious cure for the new malware, researchers say. The malware can be delivered in any of the usual ways as a malicious email attachment, file download, fake application and so on.
