Wielding EternalBlue, Hackers Hit Major US Business

A Fortune 500 company was hit by a powerful exploit called EternalBlue that fueled the global outbreak of WannaCry. The exploit took advantage of a Windows vulnerability, designated CVE-2017-0144, in Microsoft’s Server Message Block protocol. WannaMine, aka cryptominer, mines for monero, a privacy-focused virtual currency that can still be mined using off-the-shelf hardware. A researcher says many of the malware’s components have been cobbled together from publicly available code.”]
