Ecuador cut off Julian Assange’s internet access on 18 October. The country said it was concerned that WikiLeaks was trying to influence the U.S. election. Ecuador said it respects the principle of non-intervention in the internal affairs of other states. WikiLeaks accused the Ecuadorian government of having implemented the outage after US Secretary of State John Kerry allegedly told the nations president Rafael Correa to stop Assange. Ecuador also reaffirmed its decision to grant Assange political asylum back in 2012.”]
