WhatsApp updated its Privacy Policy and Terms of Service on Monday with additional info on how it handles users’ data. Users will be required to accept sharing their data with Facebook starting February 8, 2021. The new policy is a 180-degree turn from last year’s policy, enforced starting with July 2020. Facebook, Facebook Payments, Onavo, Facebook Technologies, and CrowdTangle will gain access to WhatsApp user data once the new policy changes take effect in February. After the changes, WhatsApp users will be able to continue using the app or delete their accounts.
