VeriSign says it has a policy on how to manage laptops that contain sensitive information and company data, which in this case was not followed. The company says it will continue to review its security procedures to prevent future human errors of this type. The problem is that Verisign does not accept responsibility for this act but quickly fires the individual for not following a flawed policy. Forcing whole-disk encryption which takes about 1 hour per 10GB of space to convert is the only way to ensure data is protected on laptops.”]
