We’re So Stupid About Passwords: Ashley Madison Edition

A group of password-cracking hobbyists have cracked 11.7 million Ashley Madison passwords. More than 100,000 users opted to make their site password the following six-digit string: “123456” The group obtained those passwords from data leaked by the Ashley Madison site’s attackers. Experts have been advising users to use long, unique passwords for every different sites they frequent. Using complex passwords also makes it difficult for attackers to use brute-force dictionary attacks, such as brute force dictionary attacks.”]
