Vimeo is under fire for allegedly collecting and storing users facial biometrics in videos and photos without their consent or knowledge. Vimeo s Magisto application is a short-form video editing platform that was acquired by Vimeo in April 2019. The lawsuit claims Vimeo violated the Illinois Biometrics Information Privacy Act (BIPA) This is a law that imposes requirements on businesses that collect or otherwise obtain biometric information, including fingerprints, retina scans and facial recognition scans.
