Veterans Groups Sue over VA Data Theft

A number of veterans groups are charging in a lawsuit that their privacy rights were violated after data on 26.5 million veterans was stolen from a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) employee. The groups are seeking $1,000 in damages for each person up to $26.5 billion total. The data analyst who took the data home violated its established procedures, and the VA stated that the data analyst violated its procedures. A spokesman for the VA did not have immediate comment after the suit was filed on Tuesday, the AP reports.”]
