Verizon Wireless settles FCC complaint about supercookie tracking

Verizon Wireless settles with FCC over its use of so-called supercookies to track mobile customers. The company will also seek customer permission before sharing personal identifiers with third parties. Verizon Wireless will also pay a US$1.35 million fine for use of the unique identifier headers, called ‘UIDH’ Verizon Wireless began inserting UIDH into consumer Internet traffic as early as December 2012, but failed to disclose practice until October 2014. The disclosure of the practice prompted three U.S. senators, in early 2015, to call for an investigation.”]
