VA Bank Merger Creates Security Breach

A bad file that went awry during a bank merger caused a security breach at a Virginia community bank. Some customers’ bank account information was accessible to other customers. The bank worked last week to fix the problem and will offer credit checks and identity theft protection to affected customers. Online banking portal is now restored and available for all “but a limited number” of customers affected by the breach. The breach was caused by the merger of two banks, Union Bank and Trust Company and First Market Bank.”]
