New DNS security measures for all.gov domains will be implemented by the U.S. government starting today. Starting today, domain point of contacts will automatically be sent email alerts whenever the official.gov registrar will make DNS changes. The new DotGov initiative was prompted by a global DNS hijacking campaign alert issued during January by the National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center (NCCIC) The NCCIC advised network administrators to follow this set of best practices designed to safeguard their networks.
