U.S. Charges Ukrainian Hacker for Kaseya Attack; Seizes $6 Million from REvil Gang

The U.S. government charges a Ukrainian suspect with deploying the REvil ransomware. Yaroslav Vasinskyi, 22, was arrested in Poland last month. He is alleged to have deployed about 2,500 attacks against businesses worldwide. Another suspect, Yevgeniy Polyanin, is accused of conducting attacks in Texas dating back to August 16, 2019. Both the defendants face a maximum penalty of 115 and 145 years in prison if convicted of all counts. The latest development comes amid a flurry of law enforcement activity orchestrated by Europol under Operation GoldDust.”]
