Trump FY 2019 Budget Would Slash ONC, OCR Funding

The White House is proposing to cut millions of dollars from the budget for the Office for Civil Rights, which enforces HIPAA, and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT. But the budget calls for increasing spending on other cybersecurity-related efforts within HHS in fiscal 2019, which begins on Oct. 1, 2018. Experts say the proposed funding cuts to OCR and ONC – if enacted – would potentially impact the agencies’ health data security and privacy efforts. The proposed budget is little more than a wish list, because Congress must enact appropriations.”]
