TrueCrypt Vulnerabilities Allow System Compromise, Researchers Warn

Two new security vulnerabilities affect free encryption tool TrueCrypt. Could allow attackers to obtain admin-level privileges and install malware. TrueCrypt authors stopped developing the encryption tool last year, because of security issues. But a security audit of TrueCrypts source code and cryptography implementations revealed no backdoors or security holes. The bugs have been patched in the new app VeraCrypt, an open-source program based on the TrueCrypt code that aims to continue and improve the original project. The bug report was made by a Google researcher, James Forshaw, a member of the Project Zero team.”]
