Top Security Execs at Google, Facebook, and Twitter Announce Departures

Facebook chief security officer Alex Stamos and Google’s chief information security officer John Zalewski have announced plans to leave their respective companies. News of Stamos’ departure came two days after the Cambridge Analytica scandal broke. Twitter’s Coates also announced he is leaving the company to co-found a security startup. News comes after US and EU authorities have been putting pressure on Internet companies to crack down on terrorist content, political propaganda, election meddling, and fake news. Zalewan is credited with helping set up one of the largest bug bounty programs among tech companies.
