Austal, a top Australia defence firm reports working with the United States Navy has suffered a serious security breach. Hackers accessed to personnel files and that it was the subject of an extortion attempt. The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) and the Australian Federal Police have launched an investigation. The company has manufactured over 260 vessels for more than 100 operators in its 28-year history, it has won a contract to build littoral combat ships for the US Navy. According to the company the security breach has had no impact on ongoing operations, experts also pointed out the Austals business in the US was not affected.”]
