Symantec Scoops Up MessageLabs in $700M Deal

Symantec to buy MessageLabs for $695 million. The move is designed to boost its software-as-a-service offerings. The deal is expected to close by the end of the 2008 calendar year. The addition of a SaaS offering will make it possible for the vendor to let enterprises choose the way they want to implement messaging security capabilities, an official says. Several leading providers of email and messaging security have been acquired over the past two years. The agreement is subject to customary closing conditions including regulatory approvals.”]
