Symantec CEO John Thompson to Step Down

John Thompson, 59, has led Symantec for the past decade. He will be replaced by Enrique Salem, the company’s chief operating officer, effective April 4, 2009. Thompson: “I’ve always believed that 10 years was long enough to sit in this role” The company’s most high-profile acquisition of Veritas was in 2005, a $10.5 billion deal. The company has warned of a slowdown in sales recently, but executives say they have been working on the transition for 10 months.”]
