Surveillance Demands Follow Paris Massacre

Head of Britain’s MI5 domestic intelligence agency has called for new powers to fight extremism. Andrew Parker says the risk of an attack in the U.K. remains “highly likely” after Paris massacre. MI5 director general says intelligence services risk “going dark” due to advances in communications technology. He says MI5 has stopped three UK terrorist plots in recent months in response to recent terror threats in France and Iraq. Critics have accused the government of posturing, given the mass surveillance system already being operated by the UK.”]
