Spyware Scourge As Common As Spam and Viruses; FTC Targets Spyware Outfit; E-Voting Research Delayed

According to the National Cyber Security Alliance, 90 percent of computers with broadband Internet connections have at least one spyware or adware program running on them. The House passed two bills last week that would make some spyware practices illegal. The FTC has asked a court to shut down operations of Seismic Entertainment Productions and SmartBot.Net. The Democratic party is one of several groups that have been uncooperative with researchers, according to an Associated Press report. Researchers have not been able to collect enough data to determine the effects on Internet voting.”]
