Spam report: December 2010

The amount of spam in email traffic increased by 0.3 percentage points compared to November. Phishing emails accounted for 0.14% of all mail traffic, a decrease of 0.26% compared to the previous month. Spammers mentioned WikiLeaks name in background texts used to bypass spam filters. The WikiLeaks issue was so popular in December that even the Christmas and New Year holiday season failed to live up to its usual popularity. In December, the most popular topic of spam was the WikiLeaks portal specializing in the publication of data leaks.”]
