Software piracy discovered at the IRS

Treasury auditors found poor management of software licenses at the IRS has resulted in pirated software. The IRS is not “adequately performing software license management,” the auditors wrote. The agency declined to comment on the audit. Software licensing in federal agencies has been a long-standing problem, an industry official says. IRS said it plans to centralize the responsibility for software licensing in a letter to the IRS CTO Terence V. Milholland. Cloud software, though, has its own set of problems of piracy.”]
