Signal app insists its so private it cant provide subpoenaed call data

Signal told investigators it could not comply with a legal request for user records and communications because the records do not exist on Signals servers. This is at least the second request of this kind that Signal has received in the last five years. Similar government demands to pry apart end-to-end encrypted communications have become commonplace. Signal responded to the subpoena with help from lawyers from the American Civil Liberties Union. The company said it could only comply with two categories of information requested by the US Attorney’s Office.”]
