Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., is proposing the creation of a new federal agency dedicated to protecting online privacy. The agency would have subpoena power as it investigates companies accused of violating Americans privacy. Currently, the Federal Trade Commission oversees issues related to online privacy and data protection.
