Scareware scammers lock iOS Safari to extort ransom from users

Scammers are using scareware that locks the Mobile Safari app to extort ransom money from iOS users. In February 2017, Lookout learned of the campaign from one of its users. Scammers achieved this infinite pop-up loop by abusing the fact that Mobile Safari handled pop-ups on a per-app basis. Fortunately, victims had an easy way to avoid paying the ransom. With the recent update to iOS (version 10.3), the tech giant changed Mobile Safaris.”]
