Russian President rejected US demand to extradite Edward Snowden

Russian President Vladimir Putin rejects U.S. pleas to extradite Edward Snowden. Putin says since Snowden has not committed a crime in Russia, the government will not extradite him back. Snowden has been charged with violating American espionage laws by revealing secret information on intelligence-gathering. Putin compared Snowden to WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange, who has been provided asylum in the Ecuadorean Embassy in London, saying that both men were labeled criminals but consider themselves rights activists and champions of freedom of information.
