RobbinHood Ransomware Using Street Cred to Make Victims Pay

RobbinHood ransomware has changed its ransom note to take from victims all hope of decrypting files for free and to make them pay for the recovery. The hackers point to past incidents involving their ransomware, which ended with victims paying much more than the ransom demand. Baltimore City was hit by the attack in May and the recovery efforts cost the city $4.6 million. A proper backup system with restricted access that stores copies offsite is a good response for any ransomware attack, the cybercriminals say.
