Ring Makes 2-Factor Authentication Mandatory Following Recent Hacks

Amazon-owned Ring doorbells and security cameras will require two-factor authentication for all Ring users. The move comes after several recent reports of hackers gaining access to internet-connected devices. The company has also paused the use of most third-party analytics services and offered a new opt-out option to let users stop Ring from sharing their data with third parties. The changes will be rolling out starting today, and that all users should have access to them in the coming week. Google announced last week it will require the same security feature for all Nest accounts that aren’t connected to Google accounts.
