RFID Credit Cards Can Be Hacked With $8 Worth of Stuff

The only real issue with RFID in this application is the false sense of security it gives people who don’t understand the tech. The read-range of these cards is very low, sure you can construct a more powerful driver/antenna/receiver but the physical size of the antenna has to increase so dramatically that it quickly looses any stealth. To read at 1M you would need an antenna panel that is > 1 M-2, and some pretty sophisticated signal processing.
