Verizons 2018 Data Breach Investigations Report (DBIR) is out. 73 percent of breaches were perpetrated by outsiders, 50 percent were conducted by organized criminal groups, 28 percent involved insiders, 12 percent involved nation-state or state affiliated actors. Yet human error was responsible for one in five breaches, including misconfiguring web servers, sending email to the wrong person and failing to shred confidential information.
