What’s Next for Ransomware in 2021?

The number of ransomware attacks has jumped by 350 percent since 2018, the average ransom payment increased by more than 100 percent this year. The average cost per incident is on the rise, according to a recent report from PurpleSecGroups with names such as Ragnar Locker, Ryuk, Egregor, Conti and many others are ruthless, well-funded and willing to target anyone; from COVID-19 vaccine manufacturers, retailers, banks, schools and schools to get their payday. The situation became so dire in the fall that the Cybersecurity Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services were forced to issue a bulletin warning.
