Cybercriminal gang Darkside sent $20K in donations to charities in a Robin Hood effort that s likely intended to draw attention to future data dumps. The group announced the donations on October 13 through one of its corporatized press releases posted on a dark web portal. The donations were made with stolen Bitcoin for each group, or $10,000 apiece. The Water Project and Children’s International said the matter is being investigated by Threatpost.
