Lempel-Ziv-Oberhumer (LZO) algorithm has been written in 1994 and is extremely efficient compression algorithm. LZO outperforms zlib and bzip by four or five times their decompression speed. The algorithm has made its way into projects we use on a daily basis, such as OpenVPN, MPlayer2, Libav, FFmpeg, the Linux kernel, Juniper Junos, and much, much, more.
