ProtonMail DDoS Attacks Are a Case Study of What Happens When You Mock Attackers

ProtonMail has been fighting off DDoS attacks that have affected its services for the past two days. The attacks have been attributed to a hacker group called Apophis Squad. The hacker group claims to be based in Russia but denies being Russian. The group says they were testing a beta version of a DDoS booter service the group is developing and preparing to launch. The company’s CTO responded to one of the attacks calling the group “clowns”” in a private conversation with Bleeping Computer.”
