Privacy self-regulation efforts are working, senators told

Senator John Rockefeller promises to push for new privacy legislation. The Association of National Advertisers CEO Bob Liodice says the industry is doing a good job of protecting users’ privacy. Other senators and witnesses at a Senate hearing questioned the need for new regulations. The Internet moves so fast that any privacy law passed by Congress may be “outdated by the time the ink dries,” a senator says. The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has the authority to take action against companies that violate their privacy policies.”]
