TrueCrypt developers abandoned the open-source encryption software last week. A two-phase audit of the code found no backdoors in the code. VeraCrypt and CipherShed are now taking over from TrueCrypt to replace it. The audit found four vulnerabilities in the software, two of which were rated high-level bugs. TrueCrypt has been downloaded close to 30 million times and is free and open source encryption software for privacy and security conscious individuals with a free software package to encrypt files and disk drives.
