The AppleTV has three partitions – the boot OS, a backup recovery OS, and the media partition. It is much more likely the AppleTVs have an auto-repair script in their programming to ensure stability- that would make sense in a set top box that is not meant to be messed with. It would be a waste of Apple’s time/bandwidth/money to have auto-downloads of fresh software every time something was changed on an AppleTV. Most likely the ATV’s OSX repair permissions/receipt check just noticed a discrepancy and fixed itself.”]
