Oracle Sends Warning Emails About Paid-for Critical Java 8 Update

Oracle has announced that after January 2019, security updates for Java 8 will only be available for business or commercial use without an active license. The email was sent to Alex Rice, founder and CTO of HackerOne, an Oracle account manager. Rice felt that the email felt more like a ransom demand, extortion attempt, or scare tactic. Rice told BleepingComputer that HackerOne has “no commercial relationship with Oracle”” and the email “”was unexpected”” Oracle has declined comment on this story.”
