OPM Struggles to Notify Breach Victims

The Office of Personnel Management’s data breach notifications have yet to begin. The agency has yet to solicit bids from an outside contractor to handle the work of notifying 21.5 million affected individuals. The delay is due to the fact that OPM handled data for a number of other agencies. The White House has warned that hackers appear to have stolen every background-investigation form filed with the U.S. government since at least 2000. Some members of Congress are backing legislation calling for free lifetime ID theft monitoring services for the breach victims.”]
