Over 200,000 Danish passports were printed with the users’ fingerprints mistakenly swapped between the left and right hand. The error was discovered in 2017 and affected approximately 228,000 passports. The company who encoded the biometric data on the passports has said they do not think this is an issue as only the Danish National Police have access to the decryption that unlocks this information. Reports indicate that the police are in talks with Kube Data so that if any passports need to be replaced, it will be done at no cost.
