Oldsmar cyberattack raises importance of water utility assessments, training

Hackers changed levels of sodium hydroxide in Oldsmar, Florida, water supply to 11,100 parts per million. Water utility employee caught the hacker in the act by seeing the cursor moving on the screen executing commands. Cybersecurity experts say the attack looks to be an amateur operation thats likely a crime of opportunity. The FBI and the Secret Service are working on an investigation into the incident. Experts say the use of TeamViewer, a remote desktop application that allows users to log into systems from afar, was a necessary evil.”]
