The Obama administration has issued an executive order aimed at speeding up the adoption of chip and PIN payment systems in the U.S. The move is part of broader BuySecure initiative. The Home Depot, Target, Walgreens and Walmart all plan on being chip-enabled by January 2015. The White House also announced that American Express will start a new program to support small businesses upgrading the security of their point-of-sale terminals. The administration is also using this Executive Order to help prevent identity theft, increase credit score transparency.
