U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology has released a long-awaited guidance update. The updated document describes “next-generation security and privacy controls” and how to use them. It’s the first time since 2013 that NIST has updated the document, which addresses the cybersecurity risks faced by federal government agencies and private sector. NIST made several critical changes to help government and private organizations adopt what it calls “next generation” controls. The changes include new guidelines on strengthening existing controls within IT systems and making them more adaptable to modern technologies.”]
