New Zealands refreshed Privacy Act, which came into effect Tuesday, introduces breach notification requirements and civil penalties. Organizations that fail to report a breach could be fined up to 10,000 New Zealand dollars ($7,020) New Zealand law’s provisions also pale in comparison to Australia’s Notifiable Data Breaches law. The act will apply to all companies that do business in New Zealand, no matter where those firms are based.
