New York Privacy Bill Forces Businesses to Disclose Consumer Data Use

A new bill (S00224) known as the “Right to know act of 2019″” was proposed by New York State Senator Brad Madison Hoylman on January 9. New York’s general business law was already amended in May 2018 by Senator Luis R. Sep..lveda and designed to create “”a private right of action for the breach of a consumer’s identifying information”” New York is one of the states which decided to follow the example of the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018.”
