Industrial control systems (ICS) across the world have become a larger target in 2019 as researchers discovered new threat actors attacking this sector while old ones have evolved and expanded their operations. The targets are spread across the globe (U.S., the Middle East, Europe, Australia) and the compromise relies on known VPN vulnerabilities that are exploited to run reconnaissance activity. In total, the company tracks 11 groups, two of them, Covellite and Electrum, are no longer on the radar due to inactivity.
