Robonaut 2 or R2 will accompany six astronauts on an 11-day mission to the International Space Station. The 300-pound robot will be the centerpiece of a dramatic step forward in the evolution of humans and robots working together in space. The robot has 38 computer processors and working arms and hands, including 36 embedded ones. Engineers hope to ship one or two legs attached to the robot to the space station by the end of the year.
