MS to Educate on Malware in Counterfeit Software

Microsoft launches enforcement actions in 70 countries to raise awareness of counterfeit software and to protect consumers. Microsoft cites a rising tide of complaints from people who unknowingly bought counterfeit software infected with malware. Researchers have spotted notable code overlap between the Sunburst backdoor and a known Turla weapon. Researchers at Recorded Future report a rise in cracked Cobalt Strike and other open-source adversarial tools with easy-to-use interfaces.
